ABOUT ME: Resume

I was born in February 1966. Besides being a calligrapher and a painting-calligraphy artist, I am an architectural designer.

Since I was a little boy, I have been interested in different aspects of art. My interest in art has continued throughout my life. By spending time and discovering a fondness for a variety of arts, I found Iranian painting-calligraphy to be the kind of art which matches my views.

Painting-calligraphy is a new and innovative art which was created in 20th century Iran. The modern era has had an extreme effect on Iranian art and changed it a lot. This change is obvious in all kinds of art, and it opened new windows on Iranian artists’ visions and their pieces of work. New experiences in Iranian calligraphy have seen from 60 years ago, and new paths have been opened beyond traditional forms. Iranian calligraphers started mixing the shapes and movements of Iranian calligraphy with painting and using beautiful colors. So beautiful artistic works have been created through this method. This young art is called painting- calligraphy.

Throughout my professional life and my family life with two children, I have always looked for ways to express myself through not only architecture but through art. While my dream seemed impossible to achieve, one autumn day, as I was reflecting on my first four decades of life, I felt that while creativity embedded in my professional life, it wasn’t fulfilling enough. It was at that moment that I decided to pursue my lifelong dream of learning Iranian calligraphy. When I shared my decision with my family, they assured me that I had their full support. To make my dream come true, and be able to create painting-calligraphy works of art, I have been studying classical Iranian calligraphy since 2012.

After a while I decided to go to painting- calligraphy classes to enrich my knowledge of this new art. Since 2015, I have taken lessons from different famous artists in this field. Since then I have explored different techniques in my paintings. My paintings are different, both in their concepts and also in the materials and methods I use. Most of my pieces are paintings on canvas. I prepare the background by using different materials and tools, and then I create the final drawings by the conceptual movement in Iranian calligraphy of letters or words. In some paintings, the form of Iranian calligraphy is distinct, and in some of them, just the inspiration of Iranian calligraphy feel. Using different materials and tools gives me the ability to create beautiful improvised textures. I use acrylic colors, oil colors, glue, and many other materials to create my works. I effort to have a concept and philosophical meaning in my works, although I try to be impressive in the statistic parts of works. I also have some digital pieces of artwork and 3D pictures made on wood, all with calligraphy themes and concepts.

I believe that the combination of forms and colors through artistic works talk beyond any time and location border. The language of art is emotion, and there is no border in feelings.
